The Prague Conference on Securing Europe's Healthcare Future took place under the auspices of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council and was an accompanying event to the Czech priority on the financial sustainability of health systems.
This conference marked the culmination of an investigation launched in Luxembourg in 2005 to provide policymakers with valuable new research indicating practical solutions to sustainability challenges in healthcare. Following our first set of reports published in 2007, we have undertaken two more in-depth studies which were made public at the Prague conference:
The Future of Managing Chronic Disease in Europe
Dr. Reinhard Busse, Berlin University of Technology
The Future of Health Technology Assessment in Europe
Dr. Panos Kanavos, London School of Economics
Pat Cox, Chairman of the European Movement, past President of the European Parliament, and Chairman of the Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare Financing in Europe moderated the Conference.
The conference brought together a select group of politicians and regulators at national, (EU 27 + Eastern European countries + US), European, and supra-national levels with certain representatives of civil society to debate these issues of overriding concern to our ageing European populations and to the health systems that must provide for them.
The conference programme is available here and photographs of the event are available here.
